Life

The intent of our 'Life' curriculum is to ensure each student leaves school optimistic about their future due to having the knowledge and skills required to live a healthy, safe and fulfilled life as an active member of society.

Our life vision is explicitly grounded in the school’s core values and is deliberately sequenced across a dynamic seven-year journey that integrates Relationships, Sex, and Health Education (RSHE) with Citizenship and economic wellbeing. We intend for every student to:

  1. Achievement through lifelong wellbeing: We celebrate and support personal and social success by ensuring students master statutory RSHE, allowing them to experience continuous growth in their physical, mental, and reproductive wellbeing.
  2. Ambition for the future: We encourage students to aim high and set positive, purposeful goals by developing strong financial literacy, independent living skills, and career awareness, empowering them to believe in their future potential.
  3. Community and Active Citizenship: We build a strong sense of belonging by teaching the foundations of democracy, British values, and the justice system, encouraging students to see themselves as active contributors to both the school and the wider world.
  4. Resilience against Modern Risks: We help students develop the emotional strength and practical skills to face life's contemporary challenges confidently. This includes building robust media literacy so they can critically evaluate and safely navigate complex online environments, algorithms, and harmful subcultures.

Respect, Rights, and the Law: We foster mutual respect by teaching students factually about diversity, personal boundaries, protected characteristics, and their legal rights and responsibilities. By embedding these respectful, lawful attitudes, we prepare students to navigate relationships safely and be thoughtful, considerate citizens
